Midwest Texas Longhorn Association

Join Us at the Next MTLA Meeting!

The Midwest Texas Longhorn Association (MTLA) connects Longhorn breeders across the region while promoting the Texas Longhorn breed. We focus on educating our local communities, creating opportunities to grow your customer base—and make lasting friendships along the way! MTLA is also a social group, with meetings hosted throughout the region so members can see each other’s cattle and share ideas.

Our association has hosted numerous successful ITLA qualifying shows, giving regional breeders the opportunity to compete at the national level.

Come see what we’re all about!

We are actively seeking Longhorn owners and potential owners in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. All ITLA members—regardless of MTLA membership—are welcome to show. Our group includes breeders with decades of experience alongside farms that started just this year. Meetings are open to the public, and we love when members bring guests. There has never been a better time to get involved and make a difference!

What Can MTLA Do for You?

  • Promote your Longhorn cattle and beef to local consumers interested in ethically raised, regional products.

  • Provide a closer-to-home ITLA-certified show for those aspiring to compete at the national level.

  • Give you a voice in shaping the future of MTLA as an active member.

Whether you’re new to the breed or a seasoned breeder, MTLA is here to connect, support, and grow the Longhorn community in the Midwest.

Our Mission

2026 is shaping up to be a big year for MTLA! The youth awards will be better than ever, and the crowds continue to grow. One of the best ways we promote awareness of this historic breed is through our annual summer show.

As we work to attract more exhibitors and spectators, we’re focused on offering a top-quality event — complete with media coverage, youth prizes, awards, and an excellent venue. To make this possible, we’re asking for your support.

Your generous donation helps our youth exhibit their cattle, build confidence, and promote the Texas Longhorn breed. This year’s primary goal is to purchase bigger and better prizes for our youth exhibitors.
